FOREWORD

By Samuel S. Sikaneta, MD

[Patron of the Zambian Canadian Association]

Charles Mwewa is passionate about the need for post-independence generations of Zambians to play a greater role in creating the conditions for a better life for all. He has given an account of some of the intellectual bases for taking this position.

His attempt to invoke the lessons from the disciplines of political science, economics and ethics is commendable. Zambia stands to benefit if these lessons were embraced by the country’s leadership, both old and new. Short as it is, the text has many pearls of wisdom and kernels of truth to make reading it worthwhile.

Finally Charles Mwewa has summarized eloquently some of the dreams and hopes of many up-and-coming young Zambians. Hopefully his writing will serve as a resource for dealing with the challenge of the increasing pace of development in the Zambia of today and tomorrow.
